Australian Health and Management Institute Responsibility for Delivering Australian Qualifications:
The Australian Government oversees Registered Training Organisations to ensure that quality standards of education and awarding qualifications meet the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework. Therefore, Australian Health and Management Institute is responsible for the quality of training and assessment, student support services and the issuance of Australian Qualifications Framework certification on completion of a course.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
CRICOS Course Code: 096214C
Duration: 52 weeks (40 weeks delivery plus 12 weeks term break)

Students study full time mixed mode of delivery that integrates:

  • scheduled hours for face to face classes (15 hours per week during term time)
  • scheduled hours for on-line learning (5 hours per week during term time)
  • additional self-study to revise and reinforce areas of knowledge, assessment research and assessment preparation and completion
  • 120 hours mandatory work placement

The Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery. 

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

Certificate IV in Ageing Support consists of eighteen (18) units of competency, comprising 15 core units and 3 elective units, in accordance with the packaging rules.

Students are required to complete 120 hours mandatory work placement to complete Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

Students may request Australian Health and Management Institute to organise their work placement or they may find their own mandatory work placement. In the event the student has selected the work placement, Australian Health and Management Institute staff undertakes a work place suitability assessment prior to approval

All students are required to evidence the following documentation prior to undertaking mandatory work placement

  • Current and satisfactory police check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate

Graduates at this level will have skills for work. Job roles and titles may vary but can include:

  • residential care worker
  • support worker
  • personal care giver
  • care supervisor

After successfully achieving CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, graduates can continue with other qualifications such as:

  • HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing
  • university entry into a relevant nursing field of study at the bachelor level

Students that successfully complete all 18 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

Students that complete some but not all of the units of competency as stated in the Course Structure may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competence that have been completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.


CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood education settings who work within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They support the implementation of an approved learning framework, and support children’s wellbeing, learning and development. Depending on the setting, educators may work under direct supervision or autonomously.

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Students that successfully complete all 28 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)

Students that complete some but not all of the units of competency as stated in the Course Structure may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competence that have been completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.


CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services

The Diploma of Community Services reflects the roles of community services, case management and social housing workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities.

At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers are usually providing direct support to individuals or groups of individuals. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new business opportunities. 

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 100 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
