The Australian Government oversees Registered Training Organisations to ensure that quality standards of education and awarding qualifications meet the requirements of the Australian Qualifications Framework. The Certificate III in Painting and Decorating provides a trade outcome in painting and decorating for residential and commercial construction work.
The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as two specialist fields of work.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS2001 covers this requirement.
Certificate III in Painting and Decorating consists of twenty nine (29) units of competency, comprising 26 core units and 3 elective units, in accordance with the packaging rules.

Students that successfully complete all 29 units of competency as stated in the Course Structure will be issued with CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
Students that complete some but not all of the units of competency as stated in the Course Structure may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competence that have been completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.
